Ira Jourdain’s Priorities

I will fight to make sure we have first class programming for all our youth and seniors across the city no matter what neighborhood they live in. This requires equitable funding to ensure access to programs. Our kids and seniors deserve robust programming that utilizes and maximizes our public spaces across District 6.

In the face of MAGA cuts and attacks on our city, now more than ever, our Minneapolis Parks need to partner with other public institutions, like the Minneapolis Public Schools and Hennepin County, to best serve the youth, seniors, and communities who rely on our public institutions today. This moment requires leaders who can work together across jurisdictions.

As we build a more climate resilient city, MPRB must increase our investment in our tree canopy and find new ways to build climate resiliency in how we care for our park land. We must keep moving towards natural based herbicides and pesticides to combat the chemical runoff that has a direct effect on our water that we all use and enjoy.

MPRB workers make the best parks in the country happen and therefore should be the best compensated as well. I have a record of working with public employees and their unions, in partnership to improve public services that has earned me the Labor Endorsement in this election.
